Fine Arts Resurrects The Wiz
Posted: 2/7/2013
The Apostolic Church of God Fine Arts Guild, led by drama guild director Michael Childress, will present a "gospelized" version of The Wiz later this month. This isn't the first time the ministry is performing the popular play, but the Fine Arts Guild believes new faces will make this year's performance of an old favorite feel like new; the Guild added new players to its drama troupe last fall. The purpose of every Fine Arts Guild performance remains the same: to glorify God and draw souls to Jesus Christ through the arts.
The Wiz opens Friday, February 22, in the church's Kenwood Sanctuary. Additional performance dates are February 23, March 1, March 2, and March 3 (a Sunday matinee). All performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the matinee. It begins at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
